She has participated in and led several national and international research projects, including a European Parliament study on “Women in Democratic Transitions”. She has served as academic convenor/speaker at high-level international events and has taught/ delivered lectures across Europe and around the world: e.g. France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Poland, Portugal, Argentina, India, China, Australia...

Kalliope Agapiou Josephides holds a PhD in Political Science from the Paris I Panthéon - Sorbonne University. She is an Assistant Professor at the University of Cyprus and the recipient of a Jean Monnet Chair (2001). She has a keen interest and extensive experience in the field of gender equality and human rights.

He has an interdisciplinary profile with a broad teaching and research experience in European studies and an international publication record. His main research interests relate to the broad area of value-oriented integration studies with a focus on the relations between economy, polity, culture and society from various perspectives. He is also a visiting professor at the Catholic University of Milan and collaborates with the University Institute Sophia and its Global Studies Centre (Loppiano, Italy).

She was the Dean of the Faculty of Law at Robert Schuman University from 2000 to 2003, and President of the Robert Schuman University (Strasbourg III) from July 2003 to December 2008. Between 2009 and 2015 she was also the Secretary General of the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation. Her academic interest is focused on mechanisms for the preservation of human rights both within the European Union and the Council of Europe, especially the European Convention on Human Rights and the European Social Charter. She has also worked on minority issues and has published extensively on the above mentioned topics.

His doctoral research deals with the promotion of intercultutural dialogue in EU policies towards the Mediterranean since the end of the cold war. Pietro’s research interests focus on international human rights institutions with particular regards to regional organisations (European Union, Council of Europe, OSCE), foreign policy and human rights, intercultural dialogue and human rights, EU foreign policy and Euromediterranean relations, communication of human rights.

He has been adviser to the regional government of the Veneto Region and the Italian network of ombudspersons on human rights implementation policies, and has collaborated with several NGOs in Italy and abroad. He has authored and edited publications on human rights, international criminal law, children’s rights, national institutions for human rights. Since the academic year 2007-08 he is “national director” for Italy of the European Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Democratisation. He is member of some research institutions in the areas of international law, political science and social research, with a focus on human rights implementation.

Delphine previously worked at UNESCO for the Right to Education Programme, providing her with a comprehensive understanding and unique perspective on the right to education. She has also worked with a number of NGOs in Europe and Africa, including: Amnesty International, Save the Children and Defence for Children International. She holds a master's in human rights from the University of Strasbourg.

Dr. Lamer’s research interests include press freedom, media freedom, freedom of expression, media and democracy, disinformation, information disorder, and democracy in international relations. Her first book, published by Palgrave Macmillan in March 2018, is entitled Press Freedom as an International Human Right. It examines the global politics of press freedom and the treatment of press freedom in the international human rights framework, specifically at the UN. Her articles have appeared in the Journal of Human Rights and the Global Campus Human Rights Journal.

Before embarking on her graduate studies, Wiebke worked as an online marketing specialist at Google’s European headquarters in Dublin, Ireland.

Previous to this, Catherine lectured in French in WIT, as well as in the University of Leeds, England, in the University of Limerick, Ireland, and in the University of Ulster, Coleraine in the north of Ireland. She is passionate about the power of education to change lives and open doors.

In her previous roles, she was EMA Programme Director and Lecturer in Human Rights at the University of London. Other teaching activities include master's courses at the University of Padova and guest lectures at the Universities of Deusto-Bilbao, Oslo, Sevilla, Vienna, York. Dr. Melchiorre has also experience in NGO work (ActionAid International), diplomacy (Permanent Mission of Italy to the UN in Geneva and New York; EU Delegation in Geneva) and independent consultancies (UNESCO, UNICEF, UN CEDAW Committee). Her areas of expertise are children's rights, the right to education, the UN human rights system and Human Rights in International Politics.

At the OSCE Academy Dr. Mihr teaches International Human Rights Law, International Relations, Cyber Justice, Climate Justice, Democracy and Institutional Theories as well as Transitional Justice.

Previously, she was Professor for Public Policy at the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy at Erfurt University in Germany and Associate Professor at the Netherlands Institute of Human Rights (SIM) at Utrecht University. She has held numerous other positions, such as Head of Rule of Law at The Hague Institute for Global Justice, and worked with internationally known academic institutions such as Peking University (Beida) in Beijing, the European Inter-University Center for Human Rights and Democratization in Venice, Columbia University in New York and Humboldt University in Berlin.

In October 2016 he was appointed as UN Expert to lead the Global Study on Children Deprived of Liberty.

Aside from Vienna University, Manfred Nowak was Professor of International Law and Human Rights at various prestigious universities, such as Utrecht, Lund, Stanford and the Graduate Institute in Geneva and has published more than 600 books and articles in this field.

In the past, Manfred Nowak also carried out various expert functions for the UN, the Council of Europe, the EU and other inter-governmental and non-governmental organizations. Most importantly, he served for many years in various functions as UN Expert on Enforced Disappearances (1993 to 2006), as one of eight international judges in the Human Rights Chamber for Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo (1996 to 2003), and as UN Special Rapporteur on Torture (2004 to 2010).

He was Rector and Professor of Human Rights at the Riga Graduate School of Law from 2009-2016, GC Secretary General from 2003 to 2009 and Academic Coordinator/Program Director of EMA from 2001-2004. From 1999-2001 he was Senior Researcher at the Danish Institute for Human Rights.

He obtained his Ph.D. as well as an M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Toronto, Canada, and holds the degree of Cand. Mag. in Social Anthropology and History of Ideas from Aarhus University, Denmark. Among Dr. Ulrich’s current research interests are issues related to the history and philosophy of human rights, human rights diplomacy, human rights and development cooperation, health and human rights, international medical ethics, and ethics for human rights professionals.

He is acknowleged as an internationally recognised researcher (National Research Foundation, SA) and has also won the award for Exceptional Achiever at the University of Pretoria. He is the editor of the African Human Rights Law Reports, the African Human Rights Law Journal and the Global Campus Human Rights Journal. Prof. Viljoen has numerous publications in his name, the most recent being International Human Rights Law in Africa.
