Conference on business and human rights

The European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC) organizes on 24th and 25th July 2014 in Brussels the expert meeting “Business Actors and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR)”.  

The meeting will take place in the framework of the Global Campus project and co-organized by Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznan and Ca' Foscari University of Venice. It will gather together experts of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and academics from the Global Campus network to examine the implementation of the ICESCR with regard to obligations of State Parties relating to business actors. The discussion will build inter alia on a brainstorming meeting on the economic, social and cultural rights and the corporate sector hosted by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Geneva last May, and participants will explore together the possibility of drafting a General Comment on the issue.
