Italian MFA grants patronage to EIUC Training Seminars for International Electoral Observers
Launched in November 2012, the EIUC Training Seminar for International Electoral Observers (IEO) aims at introducing civilian staff to the profession of election observers and at delivering a complete theoretical and practical basic course to those willing to consider election observation as a possible professional step in their career.
The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed this EIUC initiative and decided to grant the patronage for its training seminars for International Electoral Observers.

Alessandro Azzoni, Minister Plenipotentiary and Head of Unit PESC/PSDC (Foreign policy, security and defence policy of the European Union) of the Directorate General for Political Affairs and Security, declared “I would like to first congratulate you [EIUC] on this initiative, which I consider very useful in order to facilitate the participation of national experts to the election observation missions of the European Union, essential to ensure the EU's role as a guarantor of the rule of law in the world.”
In the inauguration day of the course the PESC Unit will be represented by Ms Elisabetta Martini, Diplomatic Officer, and by Ms Silvia Vinci, responsible for the pre-selection of EU electoral observers for the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
