21-23/XI/2013: Training on Human Rights and the Environment

tl_files/EIUC MEDIA/News Files/2013/TS_HREnv_IMG_8092.JPGThe first EIUC Training Seminar of the season 2013/2014 took place in Venice Lido (Italy) from 21 to 23 November 2013.

The subject focussed on the interrelations between human rights and the environment: based on the assumption that the right to a healthy environment is as fundamental as the other rights, the seminar surveyed various aspects that play an important role in the adoption and implementation of the environmental law through a human rights-based approach, tackling the discrepancies between the International and the Environmental Law and shedding light on the possible ways to achieve this goal.

The seminar was organised with the collaboration and patronage of the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), which also provided two scholarships to enhance the participation of candidates from developing countries.

In total 29 participants from 21 different countries attended the seminar, hosted in a newly renovated conference room at the EIUC premises.
