The Implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in Spain
that will take place on 4-6 November 2013.

Introductory note (*)

Recent years have witnessed the crystallization of the social expectation that business enterprises, and transnational corporations in particular, have the duty to respect human rights. This expectation is reflected, among others, in the adoption of the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights by the UN Human Rights Council in 2011.

This conference, the first international meeting on this topic to held in Spain, will gather together international and national academics with representatives from the Spanish Government, corporations, and civil society, to discuss the UN framework on business and human rights and its implications for Spain.

Among the numerous guest speakers also Prof. Dr. Carmen Márquez Carrasco, Professor of Public International Law and International Relations, University of Seville. and Prof. Dr. Fabrizio Marrella, Professor of International Law, Universidad Ca Foscari, Venecia, Dean of the Human Rights Village (EIUC).
