Master in Democratic Governance joins the Global Campus
EIUC attentively followed the developments in the countries on the Southern and Eastern shores of the Mediterranean Sea, especially after the rapid evolution of events observed since March 2011.
A conference on the Arab Spring took place at EIUC’s premises in July 2012: in that occasion several academic partners and experts agreed to develop the idea of an Interregional Master’s Degree in Democratic Governance with a focus on the MENA region.
Since then EIUC has been actively working on the definition, development and organisation of such a Master Programme on the base of EIUC’s experience with the E.MA Programme; it also started the creation of a solid network of partners and stakeholders.
The Master’s Degree in Democratic Governance in the MENA Region aims at selecting post-graduate students from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Jordan, Lebanon, the Occupied Territory and possibly also Egypt and Libya and at offering them one semester of classes in EIUC’s premises in Venice. Subsequently the students would continue their studies in a second semester within the network of the universities involved with the purpose of doing research and drafting their master thesis.
This new Master’s Programme will be part of EIUC’s Global Campus of Master’s Programmes and Diplomas and will represent a valuable and unique addition to the already world-wide offer of academic outfits in the field of human rights and democracy.
To define the features of the programme in a more structured way and to deepen the dialogue with its regional partners, EIUC invited them for a two-days meeting that will take place in Venice Lido from 23 to 25 March 2013. Academic representatives from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Lebanon and the Occupied Territories have already confirmed their participation.
