Prof. Mr. Jean Paul Jacqué appointed independent Expert to lead corruption probe at Kosovo Mission

EIUC and E.MA congratulate Prof. Mr. Jean Paul Jacqué, member of EIUC Board of Administrators and E.MA National Director for the University of Strasbourg, on his appointment as independent expert to review EULEX Kosovo mandate implementation with a focus on the handling of the corruption allegations.

Mr. Jacqué has more than 40 years’ experience as a law professor, including at the University of Strasbourg, as well as his work directing legal services for the European Council from 1992 to 2008. In four months’ time, he will report and offer recommendations to Ms. Mogherini, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, about the accusations against EULEX.

"Today, I have appointed Mr. Jean Paul Jacqué as independent expert to review EULEX Kosovo mandate implementation with a focus on the handling of the corruption allegations. Mr. Jacqué is a distinguished law professor with over 40 years of experience. In addition, his tenure as Director at the Council legal services offers him a unique expertise and perspective to review these allegations. I have asked Mr. Jacqué to revert to me within 4 months with his report and his recommendations. […]” said Ms. Mogherini.

EULEX is the EU’s largest civilian mission. It was launched in 2008 in order to strengthen the rule of law in Kosovo, just months after it broke away from Serbia. Currently it has some 1,500 members.
