Second Issue of the Global Campus of Human Rights Magazine

Following the success of the second online Global Campus of Human Rights Conversation, the Global Campus of Human Rights published the second edition of its seasonal Magazine (both in English and Italian).

This promotional publication is structured in the following sections:

• Press Office Interviews with donors, partners and speakers of the online Global Campus of Human Rights Conversations;
• Updates on News & Events of the Global Campus of Human Rights at local and international level
• Fundraising Office main Campaigns to raise awareness of our impact and attract more supporters.

“In 1982, Antonio Papisca and Marco Mascia founded the Human Rights Centre at the University of Padua. It was one of the first university-based human rights teaching and research centres in the world. In 1988, Veneto was the first region in Italy to adopt a regional bill to promote a culture of human rights, peace and development. Since that time, the Veneto Region has employed a councillor with a special mandate to implement the bill. This important role is currently entrusted to Cristiano Corazzari. In 1998, the Veneto Region adopted another bill aimed at providing regular support to the European Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratisation (EMA), which had just been founded by the University of Padua on the initiative of the European Union, and in cooperation with other universities in EU member States. The EMA also received financial support from the Veneto Region and soon found its home at the beautiful Monastery of San Nicolò thanks to the City of Venice’s generous offer. It also became the first of seven regional inter-disciplinary Master’s Programmes and the flagship site for the Global Campus of Human Rights. Even under the difficult circumstances resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic, the EMA team made sure its students could complete their first semester in person at the Monastery of San Nicolò in January 2021. The interviews with Councillor Corazzari and Professor Mascia shed a light on the long, successful and close cooperation between the Veneto Region, the University of Padua, the EMA program and the Global Campus of Human Rights. We are delighted to participate in the Veneto Region’s Human Rights Defenders programme by providing shelter to human rights defenders belonging to the academic community who are under attack in their home countries.”

In seguito al successo della seconda online Global Campus of Human Rights Conversation, il Global Campus of Human Rights ha pubblicato la seconda edizione del suo Magazine stagionale (versioni in inglese e italiano).

Questa pubblicazione promozionale è strutturata come segue:

• Press Office Interviews con sostenitori, partner e alcuni fra i partecipanti alla Global Campus of Human Rights Conversation;
• Aggiornamenti riguardanti News & Eventi del Global Campus of Human Rights, sul piano locale e internazionale
• Le principali Campagne dell'ufficio Fundraising per sensibilizzare il pubblico sul nostro impatto e attirare più sostenitori.

“Nel 1982 Antonio Papisca e Marco Mascia fondarono il Centro per i diritti umani dell'Università di Padova. È stato uno dei primi centri di formazione e ricerca sui diritti umani con sede universitaria al mondo. Nel 1988 il Veneto è stata la prima regione in Italia ad adottare un disegno di legge regionale per la promozione di una cultura dei diritti umani, della pace e dello sviluppo. A partire da allora, la Regione Veneto ha utilizzato un assessore con un mandato speciale per l'esecuzione del progetto di legge. Questo importante ruolo è attualmente affidato a Cristiano Corazzari. Nel 1998 la Regione Veneto ha adottato un altro disegno di legge volto a fornire un regolare sostegno al Programma di Master Europeo in diritti umani e democratizzazione (EMA), appena fondato dall’Università di Padova su iniziativa dell’Unione europea, e in collaborazione con altre università degli Stati membri dell'UE. L’EMA ha ricevuto anche il sostegno finanziario della Regione Veneto, trovando in breve tempo la propria casa nel bellissimo Monastero di San Nicolo grazie alla generosa offerta della Città di Venezia. È inoltre diventato il primo dei sette programmi regionali interdisciplinari di Master e il sito di punta per il Global Campus of Human Rights. Anche nelle difficili circostanze derivanti dalla pandemia da Covid-19, il team EMA ha fatto in modo che i propri studenti potessero completare il loro primo semestre in presenza presso il Monastero di San Nicolo nel gennaio 2021. Le interviste con l’Assessore Corozzari e il Professor Mascia hanno fatto luce sulla lunga, proficua e stretta collaborazione tra Regione Veneto, Università di Padova, programma EMA e Global Campus of Human Rights. Siamo lieti di partecipare al programma a sostegno dei difensori dei diritti umani della Regione Veneto, fornendo rifugio ai difensori dei diritti umani appartenenti alla comunità accademica che sono sotto attacco nei relativi paesi d’origine."
