The 2016 edition of the training on the "EU Charter of Fundamental Rights” has come to an end

The 2016 edition of the professional training on the "EU Charter of Fundamental Rights" has come to an end.

On behalf of the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC), we would like to thank all lecturers and participants for their involvement in the seminar and for making it a successful achievement as it was.

Prof. Jean-Paul Jacqué, Honorary Director General of the Council of the EU, and Professor Emeritus at the University of Strasbourg, kicked off the first training day with an introduction to the scope of application of the EU Charter, rights and principles, and limitations.

Dr. Vasiliki Kosta, from the University of Leiden, discussed internal market legislation and its relationship with fundamental rights and after her lesson Dr. Giangiuseppe Sanna,from the Catholic University in Milan, and EU Charter training participants debated privacy and data protection case law.

Prof. Jeffrey Kenner, from the University of Nottingham, and Prof. Steve Peers, from the University of Essex, introduced the second day with a focus on the economic and social rights in the EU Charter, then Prof. Steve Peers had a lecture on the asylum and immigration case law.

Gabriel Toggenburg, responsible for the coordination of the FRA annual report, introduced the participants to EU Charter resources for legal practitioners.
