Visit of German State Secretary Hans Jürgen Beerfeltz to the Human Rights Village

On 10 May 2012 State Secretary Hans Jürgen Beerfeltz from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development visited the Human Rights Village in Venice.

The working discussions with the EIUC faculty and staff focussed on ‘Innovating Learning Platforms for Development and Human Rights’. Discussions centred around the relationship between human rights and development in practice and explored options for setting up new projects between BMZ/GIZ and EIUC.

On the occasion of the German States Secretary’s visit, Prof. Dr. Horst Fischer, President of EIUC, also had the distinct pleasure to welcome Dr. Christoph Beier, Member of the Managing Board of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

A dinner offered by EIUC brought together the German guests with Mr. Giorgio Orsoni, Mayor of Venice, Mr. Bruno Filippini, Deputy Mayor for Public Property, Housing and Housing Policies of the City of Venice,  and authorities from Ca' Foscari University of Venice. The State Secretary addressed the dinner guests with a speech onEconomic development and actual challenges.
