The (Mis)education on Migrants: tearing down walls to build bridges

The Press Office of the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC) / Global Campus of Human Rights is glad to invite you to the press conference "The (Mis)education on MIgrants: tearing down walls to build bridges", that takes place on Monday, 2 July 2018 at 12.30, at our premises, Monastery of San Nicolò, Riviera San Nicolò, 26
I-30126 Venice Lido (Italy).

 

The event is organised in the context of the Venice Academy of Human Rights, that this year will focus “Migration, Mobility and Diversity: New Horizons for Human Rights”. It hosts distinguished experts to promote critical and useful research and innovation through the exchange of knowledge on the current migrant's crisis. Free shuttle service will be available from Piazzale Roma to EIUC premises at 11.30.

 

Will take part in the Press conference: 

François Crépeau, Academic Coordinator of the Venice Academy of Human Rights, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Migrants between 2011 and 2017;
Rainer Münz, Adviser on Migration and Demography at EPSC, the in-house think tank of the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker;
- Manfred Nowak, Secretary General EIUC / GC of Human Righs, UN Special Rapporteur on Torture (2004 to 2010), independent expert leading the UN Global Study on Children Deprived of Liberty.

Morover, our premises are hosting the photo exhibition “They defend our Freedoms” marking the 30thanniversary of the European Parliament Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. It gives a voice to these unsung heroes, presenting an immersive journey into their daily lives as seen through the diverse perspectives of Magnum photographers.
