Summer School in Cinema, Human Rights and Advocacy 2019: Interview with Askold Kurov
Listen to the Interview with Askold Kurov who remembered that now it has been four years since Oleg Sentsov was sentenced in Russia. This is a long time and it is very easy to be forgotten after many years. Oleg Sensov became not only a symbol of all Ukrainian political prisoners but a symbol of all political prisoners in Russia and this is why it is very important to keep focus on this problem, to encourage everybody to learn more about this case, and to call for joining the campaign #FreeSentsov and spread the word.
If you want to support this campaign, the Global Campus of Human Rights will organise the Press Conference “We stand with the Sakharov Prize Oleg Sentsov: Join Askold Kurov at the Venice Film Festival”, which will take place on Thursday, 29 August 2019 at 10 am, at Hotel Excelsior, Lungomare Guglielmo Marconi, 41 (Lido di Venezia) within the events hosted by Regione del Veneto.
It is linked to the Summer School on Cinema, Human Rights and Advocacy (CHRA), jointly developed by the Global Campus of Human Rights with Picture People. The 10-day intense training is aimed at young professionals wishing to broaden their understanding on the connections between human rights, films, digital media and video advocacy, to share ideas and foster participatory and critical thinking on urgent human rights issues, debate with experts and filmmakers from all over the world during the 76th Venice International Film Festival and learn how to use films as a tool for social and cultural change.
